We’ve waited and waited and waited with great patience for the reveal of the long-rumored mid-engine Corvette. Now, that waiting has paid off in the form of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray — the fastest and most powerful entry Corvette ever made.
With a new 6.2-liter LT2 V8 mounted in the middle of the vehicle, the 2020 Stingray will get a best-ever 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque — more than any entry Corvette in history. Built from the ground up with just one part carried over from the previous generation, the 2020 Corvette Stingray offers superior weight distribution and responsiveness, a sub-three-second 0-60 mph time with the available Z51 Performance Package, and incredible stability thanks to a lower center of gravity.
“Corvette has always represented the pinnacle of innovation and boundary-pushing at GM. The traditional front-engine vehicle reached its limits of performance, necessitating the new layout,” said GM President Mark Reuss. “In terms of comfort and fun, it still looks and feels like a Corvette, but drives better than any vehicle in Corvette history. Customers are going to be thrilled with our focus on details and performance across the board.”
Chevrolet says that the new Corvette Stingray will start under $60,000, making it a surprisingly affordable vehicle given its incredible advances. Expect to see the mighty and marvelous 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray in the Purifoy Chevrolet showroom sometime in early 2020.
